The Dissonance Workshop: Live Performance and Generative Friction with AI was a full day for researchers, designers, artists and performers on the frictions of making live work with generative AI: outputs that arrive late or in a form nobody asked for, lost timing, shifts in who is leading, and the moments when human and machine line up by surprise. Dissonance was looked at in three ways: conceptual, embodied and collaborative.
The Fly Amp was built for that day, on machines in Oslo: three music models play, and a fly that listens to the room steers them. The cinema is the film of the Fontana Club performance at the conference reception, Monday 5 October.
